INTRODUCING ZOE WESS

Earlier this year, rising singer-songwriter from Hamburg, Germany – Zoe Wess – emerged onto the music scene with the release of her debut single Control. A stunning pop-based track, she is rapidly captivating the attention of listeners across the world; and has fast proven herself as a phenomenal new artist to watch. A rare and distinctive artist, her sound is one to grab your attention from the very first note; with her unique vocals, and deep therapeutic cadences, that leave you hanging on every word she sings.  

Already displaying her prowess as a songwriter; Zoe dives into her debut single with a an autobiographical ballad that details her struggle through Rolandic childhood epilepsy – which saw her experience a loss of control, helplessness and exclusion from others. With raw and honest emotion; there is something about the candid lyricism, alongside a stripped back instrumental, that truly draws you into the emotional soundscape of the song.

With a painstakingly emotive piano-led instrumental introducing the track, this gradually builds as the chorus approaches, melding into to a vibrant and dynamic melody. Crafting a more unassuming instrumentation, this enables Zoe’s enthralling vocals to remain the focal feature of the track. Drawing on a gentle pop-based sound, the passionate ballad turns the past into something beautiful, leaving you feeling uplifted and inspired.

Dedicated to a teacher who helped her through some of her darkest times, Control delivers a sense of power – both melodically and thematically – as it enables Zoe to take ownership of her story in a way that allows her to move on. And with great things on the horizon, Zoe has already followed up this stellar debut with a feature on the sensational UK singer-songwriter Tom Walker’s latest single Wait For You, released last month.
