AWA is back! Following on from her latest release, Too Late For That (featuring BJ The Chicago Kid); the singer is back, and this time with her debut six track EP, cry.baby. Featuring her previous singles, including Comfortable, and hit track F**kin’ Love Songs; the much awaited EP also features two brand new tracks.
A stunning blend of R&B/pop vibes; the EP shows off AWA’s vocals, and her incredible versatility and range. Reminiscent of artists such as Kehlani, Kiana Lede and Jorja Smith; we get that classic blend of chill, easy-listening pop/R&B vibes, with a little something deeper and edgier thrown in.
The EP kicks things off with her debut single, released last year; F**kin’ Love Songs. Setting the tone for the album, it introduces the themes of love, relationships and all their different perspectives. Taking us through all these emotions; we go from more poignant melodies in Use You, to up-tempo beats in Like I Do. The EP ends on a gentle note, with brand new track Piano Song. Playing out the last couple of minutes with a sweet and addictive R&B melody; the EP fades out on a short audio clip from AWA at the end of Piano Song, bringing the record to a conclusive end.
Sad girl moment for ya. I might have been a cry.baby when I wrote these songs, but who is crying now, baby? My EP is out and I’m so happy to finally share it – it’s all about love from different perspectives. Embrace your rollercoaster self.
